Treatment Accountability for Safer Communities—TASC
TASC is a community-based case management program, serving as a bridge between the criminal justice system and the community. Parole refers offenders living in the community to PAS for case management services.
TASC began in the late 70’s as a way to bring about communication between substance abuse treatment providers and the criminal justice system to ensure a continuum of care was in place for people returning home from incarceration. Colorado programs began in 1988. Since that time, TASC has expanded its model to meet the needs of ex-offenders and the criminal justice system.
Peer Assistance Services provides the adult TASC programs in each of the Department of Corrections Parole Regions through contracts with the Office of Rehabilitation Services Colorado Department of Corrections. All TASC case managers meet the same background requirements as DOC employees.
The TASC program provides:
Screening and assessment
Treatment matching and service planning
Treatment referral and placement
Ongoing case management
Monitoring and reporting through urinalyses and breathalyzers
Reporting to parole
Community interface with treatment providers and other resources
Mile High TASC oversees the OSMI program working exclusively with offenders with serious mental illness.
